School drop-in rooms

October 7th, 2008

In Cessnock we currently have two high schools with drop-in rooms at that are open once a week during lunch times. They are staffed by a variety of workers from local services. The drop-in rooms are safe spaces for students to hang out in at lunch times, have fun activities and also a place to access information and speak to workers. Lunch periods go for 40 mins. From consultations with students we have asked what sort of services would you like to have staff come from to attend the room, health and sexual health have come up many times. Are there any services who might be interested in being involved with this project - even if it was to come once a term? For more info call Bec on 0417 288 063 or email - rfowles@samaritans.org.au
